An allergy is no justification to breed animals

In a vegan group …
Following an article about a call to end the breeding of flat faced dogs.

  • Yes. Always adopt dont shop. Stop breeding!
  • X: but you are privileged that you can take care of cats with hair, I have a cat allergy so I breed my own hairless cats (Sphynx cats). They are well taken care of!
  • Explains difference between animal welfare and animal rights. Purposely breeding animals is against the philosophy of veganism and animal rights. Don’t bring any more animals into this world. Always adopt!
  • X: But I adopted one once, it came from a breeder and had so many medical problems. So I now breed my own so I have more control. And Sphynx cats give so much love! You don’t understand.
  • There are so many animals looking for a good home. Also hairless cats. Also other animals.
  • X: Seems like you can’t stand any other take on this and it’s your way or the highway. Who says it is against animal rights to breed? etc etc.
  • …. 🧐🙄

➡️ A cat allergy is no justification to breed animals.
An impairment or disability is no justification to breed animals.
Always #adoptdontshop .

➡️ Stop breeding. Not only certain ‘breed dogs’ (with many physical issues, like in the case of flat faced dogs), but stop breeding FULL STOP.
