When I post a restaurant review *, I always try to mention something about the accessibility of the restaurant. Even when I’m not using my wheelchair. ♿️
Not only because I am an ambulatory wheelchair user myself, but mainly because
➡️ 1) it is usefull info for some other disabled people🙌
➡️ 2) I hope it will be an incentive for restaurant owners to take accessibility aspects into consideration, and – when necessary- make their space more accessible. 👈

This is from a visit to a vegan bistrot in Italy. We simply left because – after inquiring about the possibility to have a coffee and pastry – were told in a rather dominant manner we could only take a seat if we ordered lunch! All but warm and welcoming, so we just left. Which I wrote in the review.
In my review, I also mentioned “PS: not accessible, steps to get in”
The reply from the restaurant: “We are not rude to customers … Then what does it mean not accessible, were you on a bicycle? Did you have to climb over a wall?”
Great case in point 👌🙈 And no, I don’t think you will see me again soon 😓
Unfortunately, many vegan spaces are still inaccessible, and the way disabled humans are treated within the vegan community is often not in line with the compassion and respect shown for animal (rights). #ableism
I’m a Happy Cow ambassador and also post a lot of reviews on my other platform The Bruges Vegan. Screenshot is from HC.
