Taking care of older dogs – Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary

Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is a Forever Foster Home based Sanctuary in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, housing approximately 120 senior dogs at the Sanctuary and others in temporary and Forever Foster Homes. While providing lifetime homes for senior dogs, OFSDS strives to raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with older dogs.

Taken from their website: “We do not concern ourselves with the quantity of time that they have left, rather the quality of the life that we can provide them for that time”.

In the video, the link is made between ageism towards humans, and ageism towards dogs. “One of our largest attractions to Old Friends, to many many people, is that they are aging. These people are thinking. These people treat old dogs, like I want to be treated when I get way old and I may have to go somewhere but I still want to be taken care of“.
