‘Everyone can go vegan’

A pity to see “Everyone can go vegan” in here.

Yes, ☘️ everyone can go vegan ☘️, since the definition of veganism includes ‘as far as is possible and practicable’. So it takes circumstances into consideration that prevent one from fully avoiding the use of animal products, e.g. because of medical or socio-economic factors.

Given that some vegans are very fast to portray veganism (or a plantbased diet) as a magical cure all (which it is not), and throw around unsollicited health advice, I can understand why this ‘bingo’ made it to the bingo chart.

➡️➡️ It is good to be reminded not to give gratuitous ‘advice’ to disabled or chronically ill people, however well-meaning it is intended.

[ID: Bingo chart, titled “Ableist Bingo” and ‘bingo’ squares wit text: “Have you tried yoga?” / Compares acute illness to chronic illness / “Big Pharma” / “You’re derailing” / “Everyone feels that way sometimes” / “Everyone can go vegan!” / “You take too many medicines!” / “Language changes!” “You’re policing my word choice!” / “You don’t look sick/disabled” / Special needs/differently abled/handicapable / Assigns neurotypical motivations to a neuroatypical person’s behavior / “You don’t want equality, you want special treatment!” / Free Space / Uses ableist slurs / “You’re using your disability/MI as an excuse!” / “I think you mean person with autism” / Plays disability police / “Neurotypical? Non-disabled? Don’t you mean normal?” / “I wish I didn’t have to work!” / “Exercise!” / “People have it worse!” / Uses disability, mental illness, etc. as a metaphor / Accusations of faking / “I don’t see disability” / Pathologizes/medicalizes bigotry.
